Oceanco proudly unveiled three 110m projects at Monaco Yacht Show 2009, two of which were displayed as scale models at the new stand.

These two 110m projects designed by Sam Sorgiovanni and Nuvolari & Lenard respectively are based on a newly developed platform, according to SOLAS passenger ship rules for 36 passengers, with a special focus on hydrodynamics and propulsion to ensure minimum fuel use at all times. Powered by a hybrid propulsion system consisting of four MTU engines / PTO/PTI and two E-motors, the new 110m project can reach a speed of over 21 knots. An efficient propulsion and electrical system will allow the yacht to operate under optimal load conditions, thus reducing smoke and other emissions. The designs also include a fully certified helicopter area.

Sam Sorgiovanni’s design approach is also a novel one with a purposeful near plumb bow echoing the classic passenger liners of yore. Her hull is curvaceous with a rising sheer to the bow contrasting elegantly with vertically oriented and linear superstructure elements. The yacht blends grays, off white with accents of green glass and wood. The layout allows for accommodation of 4 owners and 16 guests served by 43 crew members. The owners of this 110m superyacht will have an entire deck to themselves while the whole main deck has been designated as a social and entertainment area. In addition to officer accommodation, the bridge deck features a helicopter storage area with a telescoping hangar. A fully MCA approved passenger helicopter landing and take-off pad is placed on the forward upper deck.

Nuvolari & Lenard’s 110m project, due in part to the vessel’s length and design, resembles “a real ship” more than a superyacht. The forward areas of the yacht are ship-like and purposeful. Aft of the angular superstructure, the yacht is more of a residence while forward it is a real machine. Aft also is a most unique feature: an exterior glass elevator that rises from boat deck to the helicopter platform and, depending on the deck, opens to interior or exterior and sometimes both. The helicopter landing deck is home to a full ship’s bridge with 270 degree visibility, an air-conditioned telescoping helicopter hangar and a certified helicopter landing area forward. Glass aboard this yacht is featured in a practical and aesthetic manner. On the bridge, the wings aft are glass to ease maneuvering. This 110m yacht can accommodate 4 owners and 24 guests served by 43 crew members.
